We are committed to transforming the lives of young Detroiters with intensive training in the universal language of dance. THROUGH THE PRESENTATION OF DYNAMIC ARTISTIC WORK, our students are empowered to EXCEL ARTISTICALLY, CREATE FEARLESSLY, and INSPIRE GREATNESS in themselves, each other and their communities. The LSODance Company Training Program is geared toward serious dancers ages 10 - 17 who wish to gain extensive training in Ballet, Modern, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Lyrical, Acro, and/or dances of the African diaspora. All company members take 1 to 9 of these classes each week depending on the Company Training Program in which they dance and are also expected to participate in competitions, performances, and dance conferences/workshops in and out-of-state. Admission is by audition only. Auditions occur annually in July/August. If you are interested in less rigor or a more recreational program, please consider our general studio classes.

An audition gives a dancer a chance to show their skill level, performance quality and ability to learn choreography quickly or take direction. All auditions are adjudicated by LSODance Staff & Guest Artists. No parents or guests are allowed to watch auditions. Auditions include 6 classes: Ballet, Modern, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop and Lyrical/Contemporary. Each class will start with a warm-up followed by movement across the floor and a brief dance combination that the dancers will learn the perform for the judges. Dancers also need to have a solo prepared (60-90 secs) in the genre of their choice with age appropriate music and movement. A video of a choreography phrase will also be sent to dancers to learn & memorize prior to auditions.
Company dancers practice 3 days a week - Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays - as well as 2 Saturdays a month. There is usually out of town travel for training and/or competitions 3 - 5 times per season as well as performances and events at local venues. Last season, the dancers traveled to Flint, Lansing, Saginaw, Atlanta and a performance trip to Disneyland in Los Angeles, CA. Company dancers also participate in fundraisers, community outreach and service, youth development opportunities and team bonding activities. It's a BUSY schedule but very REWARDING and FUN too!

- Dancers must attend Sat. 8/15 & Sun. 8/16 12:30-6:30pm
- There is a non-refundable $75 fee for the 2 days of class
- Dancers must perform a self-choreographed, 60-90 sec. age appropriate solo
- A choreography phrase to learn in advance & details for attire, audition schedule etc. will be emailed after registration
